Other artists who've been successful with this formula are Doug Hyde , Todd White-colored, Peter Smith amongst about 20 others.

Doug Hydes 'gimmick' is to apply various similar looking 'cuddly' characters and situate them in everyday surroundings, but done in the cartoon style. They are often recognisable, regardless of their own artists merits.

Todd White uses a similar method, but his characters are of as more adult nature. Attractive stylish people in places like wine bars, with a certain amount of sexiness, but again just about all very recoginsable once you've witnessed one.

Art isn't an easy way of making money for most people, but if you're lucky enough to uncover the right niche, you'll be made for life.
.
If you asked anybody who is currently Britain's biggest selling artist, most people would probably say Rolf Harris and also Jack Vetriano, who most people have heard of. Nevertheless they'd be wrong. Doug Hyde is currently unequivocally the biggest selling British artist at the moment.

So what makes Doug so popular?

Doug has found a popular niche and stuck to it. Google some of his work and you'll soon set out to recognise it. Basically he uses a few memorable 'cuddly' characters and puts them in various every day recognisable scenes.

What he's doing is in fact very clever. He's preparing a warmth and likeability around everyday situations, with the likable 'characters' added in the mix. Along with the utilization of warm, soft pastel colours and a soft focus, he's creating an almost emotional tug to the viewer to buy the picture. And they accomplish!!!

Whether or not this is certainly intentional on Doug's behalf is prepared to take debate, but it's definitely a winning formula, and you can hardly blame him for sticking to the routine.

Will do Doug's work have any sort of artistic merit? I don't imagine the art critics would value many successful modern day artwork very highly, but they're not people who have to generate a living from it are generally they? Thousands of houses have Doug's work on their walls, and their opinion is just as valid at the fine art critics.

Additionally, if you have a glance at other current successful artists you'll notice that Doug's methods and styles have been copied by many islands. This is surely the most effective form of flattery!

How long will Doug's success previous?

Art such as anything, goes in fertility cycles. You always get the exceptions who'll survive, but in my opinion, Dougs work is considerably of 'today' and might loose it's popularity in a long time, when a new style gets control. But that's just my opinion.

Have a look at some of Dougs Prints and see if get the exact same feelings from his work.

If you would like to put your very own spin on a famous piece of art, you may want to replicate a favourite painting with art supplies.

Aspiring artists are always looking for the next action to paint but it can be difficult to focus your creativity energies on one project with a wide variety of ideas buzzing around your brain. http://www.artmarket.co.uk/Caroline-Shotton/artist.aspx, http://www.artmarket.co.uk/
